Able Group are a Teesside-headquartered industrial business operating in offshore wind project, ports, marine decommissioning and land development. At their Humberside site, they have rolled out the UK’s first (and Europe’s second) EV charging station for HGVs, unlocking the potential for other EV and electrification developments in the area. We supported Able Group as landlord on the land leasing and national grid connection elements of the deployment of this technology.

The project was a collaboration between multiple international companies and turns unused brown field land into a key element of the local sustainable supply chain with both landlord and tenant operations in mind.

We supported Shepherd Offshore as landowner working with their tenant in granting an option to build a green hydrogen plant at their Neptune Bank Power Station in North Tyneside.

The project is operated by tenant Lhyfe, the French multi-national energy company, and will have an initial output of 20MW, producing 8 tonnes of green hydrogen per day. The plant will help businesses in the region reduce their reliance on natural gas and fossil fuels.

Our team advised global integrated energy services company, Kent, on the acquisition of Exceed (XCD) Holdings Limited, a world-class provider of well management, sub surface and decommissioning services and one of only three licensed UK Well Operators. The acquisition underlines Kent’s commitment to a future of responsible energy operations.

Through acquiring Aberdeen based Exceed and its operations spanning over 40 countries, Kent has positioned itself to expand into the quickly growing global decommissioning market, delivering on its aim to become a full-service partner across the energy lifecycle including late-life operations through to the safe and successful decommissioning of customer assets.

We acted for on various fundraisings including a £15.5m raise for Connected Energy, who have developed the world’s
only commercially-scale stationary, energy storage system which uses discarded EV battery packs. We have also supported Connected Energy with a range of complex commercial contracts and intellectual property matters and negotiations over a number of years.

Advising Power Roll on commercial contracts matters. Power Roll, a Sunderland based technology business, manufacture a cutting-edge “solar film” which unlike traditional solar panels is lightweight and transportable while maintaining durability and producing a higher energy output per square metre.

Acting for the shareholders of Northumberland based offshore engineering company Osbit Ltd on its sale to Venterra Group. The sale established Osbit as a founding member of Venterra Group, significantly expanding the company’s presence in the global offshore wind technology market. Venterra Group’s objectives include investing hundreds of millions of pounds in the offshore windfarm life-cycle, and Osbit with its sites at Port of Blyth and Riding Mill, will play a key role in their development strategy.
